1.4 Integration of 21st Century Skills and Standards
This page contains artifacts from my elective course at McDaniel: Multimedia Development. This course was an excellent practice in integrating not only technology into my teaching and professional development, but making sure it was the most effective design for learning. I was fascinated by this course and my artifacts here show that enthusiasm! My Moovly videos not only share new content, but also highlight some of the theory behind their effectiveness.
These videos are complimented nicely by artifacts from my Learning Technologies course: Screencasts and Voicethreads give students the opportunity to engage with 21st century tools as a means to create content, not just consume it. The strength of these artifacts are the variety of ways they could be used: they share content for instructional purposes, serve as examples for teachers interested in alternative modes of presentation, or work as models for students interested in creating their own informative products. The only weakness I potentially see here is how quickly technology changes: as a Media specialist I will need to stay curious and enthusiastic about new tools that simplify this presentation style as additional options for learners.
Artifacts like these demonstrate my mastery of technology integration not only as a teaching resource, but also as an option for student creativity. These tools are just the start to an ever changing world of tech tools, and the Media Center is the perfect place to facilitate meaningful learning to build that literacy.
